On our way to Hatch, NM we stopped to look at these old buildings in Luna. I snapped this pic of Sherm and never even noticed the truck until later. (Yeah Right)  :)

While riding towards Silver City this morning, I remembered that I had forgotten some non fat milk in the motel fridge. I instinctively said out loud oh nuts! Sherm and I are connected by bluetooth so we hear everything each other says, snorts, or coughs. He says what's the matter and I say did you remember you insulin? He says no. I say, let's go back and get it. he says forget it. Let me tell you, no one knows how far I will ride for a quart of milk.......112 miles to be exact. Sherm got to have a pretty cool adventure while I was on my mission. Afterward, we met at the intersection of US 180 and NM 152. 152 is 39 miles of awesomeness and is now on my top five rides ever! 5 stars for scenery, 5 stars for curves, 4.5 stars for road condition.

Hatch, NM is the chili capitol of the world. There are several of these little place that sell the strings of peppers.

Sherm is convinced that we will shortly be experiencing the very best chili relleno know to man.

For me, A MAJOR disappointment. But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained and we did find one great road to ride!


An interesting side note. Every restaurant in town closes at 3:00pm except for the one we went to that closed at 4:00 for the late owls.

On a side note, Sparky's has made a name for themselves by collecting memorabilia from a lot of other food chains.

However, a burger here with tax will set you back about $20 out the door, and you better finish it by 3:00.


The last time I used this technique, my granddaughter was still riding with me.

We had to stop for some Mexican Ice Cream to settle the burn from the chili's

A couple of Honda's at the Hon Dah Some mild Wild Life Enjoying their home on the range. The Little Colorado River originates about 15 or 20 miles from this little town of Greer, AZ. There are several of these little scrub cabins here in Greer. I think they are just some old trapper cabins from the 1800's It is apparent that the firefighters were really working hard to protect them from being lost to the Wallow Fire. In spite of their efforts, many were lost. It's hard to believe that was nine years ago. I might be able to afford to rent this one for a night. Our intended breakfast encounter. Sherm is riding past the Rendezvous Cafe where we were hoping to have breakfast. Unfortunately they weren't open These guys greeted us without pandemic mask when we finally made it to an establishment that was serving breakfast. Yea! Finally getting to visit Patience and little Shannon again. Oh no! Not that guy again! Just don't look him in the eye, maybe he'll go away. If I close my eyes he ain't there. Hmmm, how come grandpa Ken is enjoying this so much? From the age of 8 until almost 14 Patience has ridden over 30k with me on my summer trips. In that time I think we visited around 30 states also. When I offered to take her for a walk she instantly got over her shyness, grabbed my hand and off we went. No shyness at all with this guy. After our walk, she, I and Patience all went for a ride around the neighborhood. Like her mother, she was a natural OK gramps, we're going for another ride, but this time you're sitting in back! Here we are taking another walk. I think we did at least a mile. While at it she tried out all of the neighbors toys! Technically I think it is called Grand Theft Auto  We've come a long way Baby!
